360Gaussian

360Gaussian is a workflow tool for automatically training Gaussian Splats from 360-degree video or image sequences.

What It Does

360Gaussian exists for a specific pain point: normal 3DGS pipelines are usually built around perspective photos, but many spatial captures come from 360 cameras.

Use it when the capture source is already 360 and you want a more direct path to a trained splat than manually extracting every perspective view yourself.

How To Use It In 3DGS

  • Capture slow, stable 360 footage with strong scene coverage.
  • Process the video or image sequence through the 360Gaussian workflow.
  • Inspect the trained result for tripod artifacts, seam issues, and sparse areas.
  • Open the output in a viewer or editor for cleanup and delivery conversion.

Things To Watch

  • 360 workflows still suffer when lighting is dim or the camera moves too quickly.
  • Mirrors, windows, and the camera operator can be more visible in 360 captures.
  • Check licensing, platform, and update status before building a commercial workflow around it.

When To Use It

  • Choose 360Gaussian when your source is already 360 video and you want a packaged workflow rather than manually extracting views and building a trainer pipeline.
  • For unusual camera paths or quality-critical work, compare it against a manual 360Extractor plus COLMAP route.
  • Use SuperSplat afterward for cleanup; 360 captures often include ceiling, floor, tripod, and operator artifacts.
